pubg: PUBG to add this famous Premier League player – morningtidings

Son Heung-Min of Tottenham Hotspur is coming to PUBG. The battle royale game would add his character as a player skin, with other battle gear. As per the data miners, the player skin may be added with the 12.2 update that arrives on July 7, that is, tomorrow.
Why football all of a sudden? There was this Godzilla vs Kong PUBG event sometime back. The transition from that to the Premier League is a bit strange. As for the relation between the two, it is not that strange. The only connection seems to be that of the native country. Krafton is a South Korean video game maker and Son hails from South Korea also. Maybe the game maker is trying to honor Son because he is a national hero, who plays for the English football clubs. Why wouldn’t Krafton want to celebrate that and help more people know about the football star.
An image shared by PlayerIGN on Twitter reveals what’s all there in store for the players: an 8-piece cosmetic bundle that comprises Son’s game face, 2 sportswear outfits, a signed helmet, 2 new weapon skins and 2 emotes of the footballer’s on-field celebration styles.

Compared to PUBG, Fortnite is more regular with its collaboration with pop culture icons and famous personalities, some examples being collabs with Marvel Avengers, Travis Scott’s virtual concert etc. If you think of football collaborations, PUBG rival Free Fire added Cristiano Ronaldo to the game as a playable character named “Chrono” that had an impact on the story of the game universe. The Juventus player was actually signed on as a brand ambassador for the game. Similarly, Neymar Jr. also collaborated with Fortnite.
