Police confidence ‘in a while’ after Chelsea returning from USMNT role

Christian Pulisic has returned to Chelsea on a high from an international break, saying his belief is the highest in a “while” after starring for the US national team.

Pulicic won the USMNT 4–1 before scoring on Jamaica and A 2–1 win in Northern Ireland turned into a man of the match performance.

The 22-year-old’s international appearances come at an opportune time, as he has struggled for consecutive minutes at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel.

“It always feels good, of course, to get on the scoresheet,” Pulisic told Chelsea’s official website. β€œIt is definitely going to help build some confidence.

“I’m feeling good right now, and people are feeling as good as it seemed here. For me personally and at the same time, going back to the club level, I’m really excited.

“I’m feeling confident, as I’ve said. I feel that I’ve felt the best in my game, so I’m excited for the time to come.”

Policemen under tuschel

The German manager took over from Frank Lampard in January and immediately helped revive Chelsea’s fortunes.

On a personal level, however, the police have found Tuschel’s life somewhat challenging.

The American was a regular starter under Lampard but has only started one Premier League match since Tuchel took over the blues.

Pulis has made two more FA Cup matches since Tuchel’s arrival, and he is still looking for his first goal under former Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain bosses.

What will happen next

Pulisic will be hoping for his second Premier League debut under Tuchel later this week when West Brom visit Stamford Bridge.

Following that game, Chelsea will face Porto on Wednesday in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-finals.
