PM could not give statement in Lok Sabha on ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’ due to disruptions: Prahlada Joshi

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted to make a statement in the Lok Sabha on the ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’ to celebrate 75 years of India’s independence, but could not do so due to ongoing disruptions.

Mr. Modi will start the ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’ from Gujarat on March 12 and will also flag off the 21-day ‘Dandi March’ from Sabarmati Ashram.

Mr. Joshi said in the Lok Sabha, “The Prime Minister wants to make a statement in the House, but there is no consensus, although the Speaker has given permission. Whenever there is an agreement in the House, the Prime Minister will make a statement.” .

Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also chaired a meeting of floor leaders of all parties to end the logjam in the House. According to sources, all parties except the Congress agreed to it.
