A Group Captain of the Indian Air Force died on Wednesday morning when a MiG-21 Bison Fighter jet crashed from an airbase in Central India while leaving for a combat training mission.

“The IAF tragically killed Group Captain A. Lost Gupta. The IAF expressed deep condolences and stands firmly with the family members, ”a statement said. The incident occurred at 10:50 am, it has been revealed.

The Court of Inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the accident. The MiG-21 is the only version of the MiG-21 in the Bison service and is in the process of being phased out.
