PC Chacko resigns from Congress, accuses of groupism in Kerala unit

Shocking the Congress in a pole-bound in Kerala, senior leader PC Chacko announced his resignation from the party on Wednesday, with the group’s interest in deciding the party’s candidates for the assembly elections.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Chacko said that he would send his resignation letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

He alleged that the party’s candidates for the April 6 assembly elections in Kerala were determined by two groups – the “A” group led by Oommen Chandy and the “I” group led by Ramesh Chennithala.

Legendary leader and late K. Both groups have been active in the state unit of the Congress since the time of Karunakaran and senior leader AK Antony. When the A group was led by Mr. Antony, the I group was led by Mr. Karunakaran.
