The NCP supremo said that the MVA government had no influence due to Mr. Singh’s allegations.
NCP President Sharad Pawar on Sunday said that the allegations made by former Mumbai Police Chief Param Bir Singh against Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Dehsukh are serious and require a thorough investigation.
Mr. Singh has claimed that Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh wanted the police officers to collect 100 million monthly home from bars and hotels.
Talking to reporters in Delhi, Mr. Pawar suggested that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray take a decision in the matter and also take action against Mr. Deshmukh.
Mr. Pawar said that neither the Chief Minister nor the State Home Minister was responsible for the restoration of police officer Sachin Veg in the police force last year.
The NCP chief said that he had spoken to Mr. Thackeray regarding Mr. Singh’s letter. He said, I would suggest Uddhav Thackeray to enlist the help of former IPS officer Julio Ribeiro to look into the claims made by Paramvir Singh.
Mr. Pawar said that Mr. Singh made the allegations after his transfer to the homeguards on 17 March.
The NCP supremo said that the MVA government had no influence due to Mr. Singh’s allegations. He said that efforts are being made to destabilize the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress government in Maharashtra but they will prove to be fruitless.
In an eight-page letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Mr. Singh alleged that Mr. Deshmukh used to call police officers at his official residence and gave them “collection targets” from bars, restaurants and other establishments.
