A major power outage was reported in Pakistan on Monday. As per reports, various parts of Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi were left without power for hours. After the incident came to light, the Ministry of Energy in an official statement said that the system frequency of the National Grid went down at 7:34 this morning, thus causing a widespread breakdown in the power system. Meanwhile, netizens took to social media to share funny memes and jokes as several cities in Pakistan were left without electricity for hours. Soon, #poweroutage and #ElectricityShutDown started to trend on social media. Taking to the microblogging site, one user said, “Relax Boys… Pakistan ko restart kr rhy hain,” while a second user shared a picture of what Twitter users in Pakistan were like.
