The best and most popular apps of 2021 have just been revealed by Apple and if you’re looking for something new to download on your iPhone, Mac or iPad then it’s worth checking out this list of top picks. Apple says that this year’s winners include developers from around the world whose apps and games were selected by its global App Store editorial team for delivering exceptional quality, innovative technology, creative design, and positive cultural impact.
Grabbing the gong for best iPhone app was Toca Life World game from the team at Toca Boca whilst video editing software LumaFusion has been awarded best iPad App of the Year.
Those with a Mac might like to try out Craft which lets you build and edit documents across devices – this app won best Mac app of the year.
Other apps selected by the panel include Carrot Weather which won Apple Watch App of the Year and Space Marshals 3 which was handed Apple TV Game of the Year.
“The developers who won App Store Awards in 2021 harnessed their own drive and vision to deliver the best apps and games of the year — sparking the creativity and passion of millions of users around the world,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “From self-taught indie coders to inspiring leaders building global businesses, these standout developers innovated with Apple technology, with many helping to foster the profound sense of togetherness we needed this year.”

Mac App of the Year: Craft, from Luki Labs Limited.
Apple TV App of the Year: DAZN, from DAZN Group.
Apple Watch App of the Year: Carrot Weather, from Grailr.
iPhone Game of the Year: “League of Legends: Wild Rift,” from Riot Games.
iPad Game of the Year: “MARVEL Future Revolution,” from Netmarble Corporation.
Mac Game of the Year: “Myst,” from Cyan.
Apple TV Game of the Year: “Space Marshals 3,” from Pixelbite.
Apple Arcade Game of the Year: “Fantasian,” from Mistwalker.

Along with those winners, Apple has also revealed a full list of the most downloaded applications of 2021. Unsurprisingly, the NHS app took the top spot on iPhone with WhatsApp and TikTok just behind.
On iPad is Zoom that got downloaded the most throughout the year with Microsoft Teams and Netflix also appearing in the top 5.
