CBS took a few seconds in this year’s “One Shining Moment” video to pay homage to Oscar Fryer of the Grand Canyon.
Fryer, 23, died in a car accident on March 23, exactly three days after losing in the NCAA tournament to Iowa in the first round. He, his older sister Andrea Moore and a friend died in an accident near Lodi, California.
In the video, Fryer appears at the 1:36 mark. He is shown blocking Connor McPherry of Iowa, who is supporting him in transition:

It was a classy move by CBS to include Fryer in his videos, darling, as it is common among hardcore and casual basketball fans alike. The Grand Canyon certainly appreciated the gesture, as well:
Fryers played 25 minutes in the Hawkeyes’ loss, collecting eight points and scoring three rebounds, five assists, one steal and three blocks. This was his 107th start – the third-most in the era of Antelopes Division I. The senior guard / forward finished his career with 970 points and 144 3-pointers, ranking fourth in program history in both points.
“We love O,” said GCU coach Bryce Drew School statement announcing his death. “He was the heartbeat of our team with his vibrant, energetic personality. I cannot put into words the sorrows and sorrows that we all feel, but we know that he is in heaven and we have a lot to learn. Glad we will be together again. “
