Ace India’s shuttler Kidambi Srikanth bowed out of the Orleans Masters after losing in the quarter-finals on Friday. France’s Toma Jr. Popov defeated Srikanth 21–19 21–17 in straight games in a 41-minute clash. The Indian shuttler performed brilliantly, but could not get in line and lost in both games by a close margin. Earlier in the day, Saina Nehwal defeated Iris Wang of America in the quarter-finals to advance to the semi-finals of the current Orleans Masters. Nehwal had a tough fight against Wang 21–19, 17–21, 21–19 in an hour-long encounter. Wang fought a big battle against Olympic bronze medalist Shutler, but could not do better than Nehwal.
Nehwal started on a high note, beating the American in the first game. Wang made a strong comeback in the second game and claimed the game 21–17. The match went to the third game, where Nehwal held his nerve to advance to the final four of the competition.
In another women’s singles quarter-final, Indian shuttler Ira Sharma suffered a humiliating defeat against Rekha Kristoffersen of Denmark. The Danish shuttler defeated Ira 21–11, 21–8 in just 23 minutes in straight games.
The women’s doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy reached the semi-finals. Ponnappa and Reddy defeated the England pair of Chloe Birch and Lauren Smith 21–14 21–18 in a 41-minute quarter-final.

The Indian men’s doubles pair of Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnu Vardhan Gaur Panjala advanced to the semi-finals after defeating the local pair of Kristo Popov and Toma Jr. Popov in a hard-fought three games.
The Indian pair emerged victorious despite the French pair making a comeback in the second game. He won the match 21–17, 10–21, 22–20 in an encounter completed in an hour and three minutes.
