Over the years, there have been instances where the game has been stopped for bizarre reasons and one such example was presented to fans during the second T20I match between New Zealand and Bangladesh on Tuesday – the lack of a revised target. In the second game of the three-match series, the game came to a halt as there was some confusion among Bangladesh players chasing the revised target. When the second innings resumed, it looked as if Bangladesh were to chase 148 runs in 16 overs after adjusting to the DLS methodology as per the goal.
But after 1.3 overs, the game was halted and the umpires took the ball in possession as there was confusion about Bangladesh chasing the target. The game came to a halt for about five minutes and, after some downsizing, it was revealed that Bangladesh had to chase 170 runs in 16 overs. Match referee Jeff Crowe and on-field umpires Chris Brown and Chris Gaffney informed the Bangladesh players about the goal.
New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham was not happy with the situation and asked how a team could come to bat and not knowing what target they were chasing.
