Tourism Minister Vellamandi N. after scrutinizing the nomination on Saturday. The nominations of most of the major candidates including Natarajan (Tiruchi East), Transport Minister MR Vijayabhaskar (Karur) and former Minister KN Nehru (Tiruchi West) were accepted.
Their constituencies were scrutinized in the presence of general observers, candidates and their representatives.

Kumar, DMK’s Anbil Mahesh Poemoji (Thiruvarumbur), former president of AIADMK (Mannacharanallur) M.K. Paranjothi, S. of DMK (Mannakuran). Some Krishnan of AIADMK (Srirangam), Sarubala R. of AMMK at Srirangam. Tondiman was among the leading candidates accepted in Tiruchi district.
In Karur district, former Minister V. The nominations of Senthil Balaji, who has been pitted against Mr. Vijayabaskar in Karur constituency and former IPS officer and BJP candidate in Aravakurichi constituency. Annamalai are accepted in Karur district.
Out of 211 nominations filed for Karur, Krishnaraipuram (reserved), Kulathalai and Aravakuri constituencies, 40 were rejected by the returning authorities.
Most of them were filed by independents and were rejected for failing to produce mandatory documents.
When nominations for the Arvakurichi constituency were filed for investigation, an independent candidate lodged a protest that Mr. Annamalai failed to give details on the pending cases against him.
After a thorough investigation, the Returning Officer dismissed the protest and said that Mr. Annamalai had presented the information.
