
Officials will begin receiving nominations by the candidates from Friday, with the notification of the upcoming assembly elections due on 12 March.
According to the officials, the nomination papers should be submitted to the concerned Election Officers or Deputy Election Officers from March 19 between 11 am and 3 pm. Applications will be scrutinized on March 20, while the last date for withdrawal of papers will be March 22.
A printout copy of the nomination papers available on the Election Commission portal (suvidha.eci.gov.in), Online details can be submitted after filling.
In view of the COVID-19 protocol, the candidate will be allowed to accompany a maximum of two persons while submitting the papers. They are also directed to maintain physical distance and wear face shields, masks and gloves.
Web-casting facilities
Officers will also implement web-casting facilities at 1,203 polling stations in Kottayam. Of these, 40 booths have been marked as critical while 22 have been classified as sensitive. Steps are also being taken to install 150 bio-toilets associated with polling stations with the support of District Suchitwa Mission. Student Police Cadets and National Cadet Corps volunteers will be deployed as part of crowd control measures.
