Cash was recovered from one Romesh Kumar, who was arrested in a narco-terror case earlier this month.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday recovered (91 lakh) from the agricultural sector in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. A cache hidden in a pit was recovered at the behest of one of the accused Romesh Kumar. An NIA official said He was arrested earlier this month in a narco-terrorism case.
The NIA said it recovered “narcotics proceeds” early Friday.
The NIA said in a statement, “Investigation has revealed that the arrested accused Romesh Kumar had obtained the cash of drugs from narco-smugglers located in the Kashmir Valley.
A case was registered in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir in June 2020 after 2 20 lakh and 2 kg of heroin were recovered from a car during a vehicle-check on a bridge.
The car belonged to one of the accused Abdul Momin Pir. The NIA took over the investigation on June 23, 2020.
“Recently, the NIA arrested five accused persons from Srinagar and Jammu on 1 March and took them on remand for 15 days. Based on the investigation and revelations of the arrested accused, the NIA conducted a search and seizure of narcotics for smuggling Rs 91 lakh. The agency said, the amount was concealed in an area in village Gurwal, PS Ramgarh, district Samba, Jammu and Kashmir.
