Netflix just suffered a colossal loss at the hands of Prime Video

And there’s no sign of Netflix managing to catch-up with Jeff Bezos’ competitor. In 2022, the gap between these two streaming services is expected to widen. Ampere Analytics forecast Amazon to reach as many as 13.8 million active customers in Germany by the end of this year. By the same period, Netflix is widely-expected to reach just 10 million.

Germany and Austria are the only two territories in Western Europe where Prime Video is ahead of Netflix.

Prime Video is a little different to Netflix as it’s available as a standalone video on-demand subscription, but it’s bundled as part of the annual Prime Membership scheme too. This includes access to the video on-demand library, a catalogue of free music from Amazon Music, next-day delivery on thousands of items from Amazon, unlimited photo back-up the cloud, and more.

However you’ve decided to access Prime Video, the streaming app includes a mixture of exclusive shows, movies and syndicated episodes and films as part of the subscription – exactly like Netflix. But unlike its streaming arch-nemesis, you can also rent and buy additional titles from Prime Video, which are not included in the subscription.
