National Women’s One Day Championship: Mithali Raj-Led defeat Jharkhand to win title

The illustrious Indian Railways once again won the title of the National One Day Championship with a seven-wicket win over Jharkhand. Out of the 14 editions of the National One Day, Railway women have won 12 titles in multiple exhibitions at the summit, which is a testament to their dominance in women’s cricket. Such proceedings were controlled by the Railways that they chased down a target of 168 in only 37 overs and came out of the dressing room cooler without the need of their best batsman Mithali Raj.

India’s international Punam Raut gave the all-rounder Sneh Rana the stage to finish the game in an instant, scoring an unbeaten 34 off 22 balls, after scoring an innings of 59 from 94 balls.

Rana, apart from his stormy innings, was the most successful railway bowler, taking 3 wickets for 34 runs.

It was a professional performance in all departments of the Railways after opting for batting.

Six batsmen from Jharkhand could not cross double figures while three could not even open their accounts.

The Railways held their strength as Raj deployed five spinners in his six-bowler attack.

The only medium fast bowler Meghna Singh (2/22 from 7 overs) scored consistent success by dismissing Ritu Kumari (0) and Radhesh Sonia (0) in the seventh over.

Indrani Roy (49 off 77 balls), Jharkhand’s best batting, was not her fluent best innings that day as she could only hit three fours.

When she appeared on the set, Rana got her stumped by Team India keeper Nuzhat Parveen. Durga Murmu (31) and Captain Mani Niharika (39 not out) were important contributors for Jharkhand.

In the 39th over, Jharkhand was at 130 for 5 at one time, approaching the total of 200, but by 37 runs they had lost their last five wickets.

Left-arm spinner Ekta Bisht (2/33 in 7 overs) and out-of-form leg-spinner Poonam Yadav (1/26 in 7 overs) also kept things tight with Rana and Swagatika Rath (1/1). 28).

Chasing the target, openers S Meghna (53, 6×4 off 67 balls) and Raut (11×4) added 107 runs for the second wicket in 25 overs. When Meghna was over-attacking in her strokeplay, she let senior-most supporter Raut play her natural game of grinding the opposition.

Both were quick successes but Mona Meshram (19 not out) and Sneh added 45 runs in seven overs. Rana hit five fours and a six while Meshram also scored the maximum runs.
