It is important to protect the country’s land, environment, natural resources, crops, forests, tree plants, animals and water, etc. and it becomes the duty of every citizen to do so. Protecting the country, citizen and overall society is a task of pride and to acknowledge this, National Safety Day in India is celebrated where people are made aware of the safety of their nation and their people. The “National Security Council” was established on 4 March 1966. The National Security Council of India is a self-governing body, formed for public service and is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. It was established as the “Society Act “in Mumbai on 4 March 1966. In 1972, it was decided by the “National Security Council” to celebrate “National Safety Day in India” on March 4.
In order to promote safety at workplaces and to make people aware of their safety, National Safety Day is celebrated every year across the country. The National Safety Council was established on March 4, 1966, and the program was started by the then President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan with a special focus on awakening a wider consciousness for the safety of the people working in the industrial sector. National Safety Day in India is also dedicated to those brave immortal sons of India, who made the supreme sacrifice of their lives by protecting their motherland.
National Safety Day may be celebrated every year on March 4 in India, but it is not a one-day event but a full one-week program. That is, the National Safety Day campaign is run across the country for a week (March 4 to March 10), hence it is also known as “National Safety Week”.
