: Natco Pharma plans to launch its first green label pheromone product during the kharif season this year for the management of pink bollworm in cotton crop.
The generic drugmaker, which diversified into the chemical two years ago, announced a pheromone-based mating dissolution technology for integrated pest management (IPM) solutions in the country.
The company’s Crop Health Sciences (CHS) division is working with ATGC Biotech (ATGC) for technology. A release said ATGC is a science-based innovative technology company, focusing on developing new biomolecules and tools to protect various crops from pests in collaboration with ISCA, a US-based agricultural biotech company.
Natco launched a pheromone product for the management of Pink Bollworm under the brand Naimat PBW. The release stated that it is the first pheromone-based indigenously manufactured product for mating dissolution, which has received approval from the Central Pesticide Board (CIB).
Pink Bollworm posed a major challenge to India’s cotton farmers over the years. The effect on crop quality and yield is significant and often severely affects the livelihood of small farmers. The release states that NATMAT will help PBW farmers and seed producers to develop a Pest Resistance Management Plan (IRM) and also preserve the benefits of Bt symptoms in cotton.
