More than 75 percent of Japanese oppose foreign fans participating in the Tokyo Olympics, a poll showed on Monday, as organizers prepare to make decisions on foreign spectators. The survey conducted daily by Yomiuri Shimbun found that only 18 percent of those responding were allowing foreign audiences for coronovirus-delayed games with 77 percent in Japan. Sports organizers said last week that they plan to rule the case this month, presumably before the nationwide torch relay begins on March 25.
But Japanese media say that the game chiefs have already decided to bar foreign fans.
Tokyo 2020 president Seiko Hashimoto said on Friday that the organizers “really want to hold the event with fans from all over the world”, but it would be difficult “if we are not in a position where we accept them and the situation So medical facilities are not perfect ”.
Yomuri Poll also revealed that 45 percent of the respondents were in favor of the spectators attending the games, with 48 percent opposing.

Organizers have said they plan to decide on the overall attendance limit in April.
Voting took place between March 5-7 via random phone calls, with 1,066 out of 1,977 people responding.
