The Indian cricket team had to dig deep to win a stunning Test series in Australia earlier this year. Fighting with meager resources, many youngsters and newcomers helped India come from behind to win the series 2–1. Industrialist Anand Mahindra at the time promised to give the car to six players who rose to prominence in the series Down Under, and pacer Mohammed Siraj was among them. Siraj recently received his gift and on Sunday, he took to social media to thank Anand Mahindra for the SUV.
Siraj tweeted, “Words fail me at the moment. There is nothing I can say or do that makes me feel about your beautiful gift.”
“For now, I’ll just say a big fat thank you @anandmahindra sir,” he said.
Siraj shared a photograph of his brother and mother receiving the car, in which the cricketer himself was on IPL duty.
Siraj made his second Test debut in Melbourne, which India won.
As a pile of injuries, Siraj was the vanguard of the Indian bowling attack with two Tests under his belt until the fourth Test came around the corner.
T Natarajan and Washington Sundar made their debut in the final Test, while Saini had played only one Test before.
Promoted
It was also Shardul Thakur’s second Test, but it was a good start for him as he bowled only 1.4 overs before being injured in his only previous appearance for India in the longest format of the game.
Siraj claimed five wickets to record a historic win for India in the second innings at the Gabba, which also earned him the series.
