MNM nominee loses candidacy in Mettupalayam

The Returning Officer stated that K. Rajkumar made an error in filling his nomination papers

Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needi Maim (MNM) candidate for Mettupalayam constituency. Rajkumar lost his candidature due to an error in filing nomination papers.

Returning Officer (RO) for Mettupalayam Constituency R. Kumaresan said that Mr. Rajkumar had filled in the column given for the registered-non-registered party instead of filling the column given for the registered-recognized party in Form 2B of the nomination. The nomination check on Saturday found an error in enrollment. The RO said that no one else had filed nomination as a dummy candidate for MNM.

Although the MNM is a registered party, it has to be recognized as a state or national party based on election performance as per the norms set by the Election Commission of India.

Mr. Kumarasain said that out of 36 nominations in Mettupalayam constituency, 25 were rejected by Mr. Rajkumar.

Sulur ro v. Santhi said 16 of the 25 nominations received were accepted while nine were rejected during investigations in Sulur constituency.

Ro g. Ravichandran said a total of 27 nominations were received in Kavandapalayam constituency, out of which 12 were accepted and 15 were rejected.
