Masters Cut Line 2021: Estimated Deduction, Rules, Updates for Friday’s Leaderboard

A handful of top golfers are at risk of missing the cut line at the 2021 Masters on Friday.

Unforgiving conditions at Augusta National left many struggling to stay in contention through Round 1. Only 12 golfers entered Friday with a number of top players flirting the cut line, estimated to be nearly 3-over par, including Bryson DeChamio and Rory McLear. This is in stark contrast to the November Masters, which saw a large cause of low scores due to soft conditions, which led to Dustin Johnson setting a new course record.

Meanwhile, 2021 so far includes 11 others at the top of the leaderboard as well as runaway leader Justin Rose, with Hideki Matsuyama, Patrick Reid and Jordan Spieth in that group.

Overall, about 50 of the 88 players will be in the 2021 Masters ground on Saturday.

You need to know everything here to know about the masters cut line, rules and results as a jockey of players to make the weekend.

Masters cut rules

A rule change in the game has been made to cut the Masters in 2021. Only the top 50 players (plus ties) on the leaderboard will remain for Saturday and Sunday, a new hard-cut weekend ground shortened by Agusta officials in 2020.

Since 2013, any player within 10 strokes of the clubhouse leader after 36 holes will advance to Round 3 in addition to the top 50 automatic qualifiers.

The new rule ensures that the Masters cut is now the toughest of the four golf heads. The top 60 players make the cut at the US Open, while the top 70 players make the cut at the PGA Championship and The Open Championship.
