West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Sunday blamed herself for not recognizing the “real face” of the influential Adikari family of Purba Medinipur district.

Veteran TMC MP Sisir Adhikari – father of Suvendu Adhikari – joined the BJP on Sunday in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior leaders of the party.

He compared the Adhikari family to the “Mir Jafar” (traitor) and said that the people of the area would not tolerate it and would reply with ballot papers.

Mir Jafar, the military general of Siraj-ud-Daula, the last indifferent Nawaz of Bengal, is considered a traitor to betray the besieged Nawab during the Battle of Plassey in 1757, which paved the way for British rule in India.

“I say I’m a ‘big ass’ for failing to recognize them. But don’t vote for them,” Ms Banerjee told the rally.

The TMC chief also described the BJP as a party of “miscreants and goons”.

He blamed the family as “zamindars” (zamindars) for ruling the district, taking full control of the area, claiming that even he was not allowed to hold public meetings.

Saying that all the works like health, roads and other schemes have been done by the state government and not by the Adhikari family, Banerjee has kept the BJP out of West Bengal to keep the crowd at peace and carry forward the pace of development. requested.

Even earlier, he described Suvendu Adhikari as a traitor, pointing out that he had blindly supported him when he was in the Trinamool Congress.

Ms. Banerjee also tried to play the nationalist card by raising slogans of “Bade Mataram” and “Jai Hind”.

Ms. Banerjee left her Bhawanipore constituency in Kolkata to contest against her former lieutenant and BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari on the Nandigram seat, where an anti-land acquisition movement backed TMC to come to power in the state in 2011 .
