The state reported about 18,000 new cases, 87 fatalities; Recovery rate fell to 91.77%
Maharashtra on Tuesday made another record single-day jump of 17,864 new COVID-19 cases as its active cases rose sharply to 1,38,813.
The state’s recovery rate in the last 24 hours was 91.77%.
To2 deaths pushed the fatal toll to 52,949.
While the total case count has reached 23,47,328, the cumulative recovery is 21,54,253.
“A total of 1,77,15,522 laboratory samples have been tested so far, with 23,47,328 (with case positivity increasing by 13.25%) testing over 1,06,000 samples in the last 24 hours.” Dr. Pradeep Awatte said that the fatal growth in the case of the state had fallen to 2.26%.
Pune district reported another staggering over 3,500 new cases taking its total case to 4,45,319. According to data from the state’s health department, there were 14 deaths, as the fatal number was 8,158. According to district officials, the active case tally has now crossed the 24,000 mark, while the death toll has risen to 9,440.
The city of Mumbai registered a huge increase of 1,922 new cases, taking its total to 3,47,597, of which 13,862 are active. Four fatal incidents brought the city’s death to 11,543.
Nagpur district in Vidarbha took another dangerous leap in over 2,600 cases, as its total cases increased to 1,78,616, of which 19,558 are active. With 10 deaths, its toll has touched 3,597.
There were 435 fresh cases and 10 deaths in Yavatmal district of the same region. Its total case has reached 22,699, of which 2,943 are active, while the fatal toll has climbed to 507.
Cases in Aurangabad in Marathwada have been steadily increasing, with 992 cases registered to take its total count to 61,206, of which 8,877 are active. 12 people died at the toll 1,306.
Western Maharashtra, however, continued to report relatively few cases and deaths. Satara added 135 new cases and there was only one death as the total cases rose to 61,006, of which 1,673 are active, while the death toll touched 1,860.
Sangli registered 55 cases and the total number of deaths in the district stood at 51,947, out of which only 785 are active.
There were 41 cases registered in Kolhapur and no deaths as the total number reached 50,215, out of which only 403 are active.
Dr. Atte said that at present, 6,52,531 people were in home quarantine and 6,067 in institutional quarantine facilities across the state.
