Former JD (S) MLA and former Chief Minister late S.K. Bangarappa’s son Madhu Bangarappa announced on Thursday that he would join the Congress, stating that there was a lot of scope for him to work and express his views in the party.
Bypassing all speculations, Mr. Madhu called former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at the latter’s residence and announced that he was joining the Congress.
Mr. Madhu was defeated by his brother Kumara Bangarappa (BJP) in the 2018 assembly elections in Sorba constituency. He also contested the 2018 Lok Sabha by-election on a JD (S) ticket and lost to the BJP.
“All my supporters have decided. I am joining Congress. Mr. Madhu said that his father became the Chief Minister of the state in the Congress. Regarding the reasons for leaving the JD (S), Mr. Madhu said that he had on several occasions told the JD (S) leader HD Kumaraswamy about his problems. He is expected to meet KPCC President DK Shivakumar on Friday.
On Tuesday, former minister and JD (S) leader Late C. Managuli’s son Ashok Manguli joined the Congress. He is likely to be the party’s candidate in the by-elections in Sindhi constituency in Vijayapura district.
The bypass was required after the death of two-time MLA and former minister C Managuli, who died due to COVID-19 complications.
