The Sri Sangameswaram temple, submerged last year after heavy flooding in the Srisailam reservoir from the Tungabhadra and Krishna rivers, has re-emerged as water after 248 days.
Located in the back of the reservoir, this temple remains submerged for four-five months every year. But this year, it remained in the water for eight months.
On Sunday, the cleaning process of the sanctum sanctorum started, while the temple architect Telkapalli Raghuram Sarma said that Lord Shiva can be seen from Monday. Archaka along with other staff inspected the temple on Sunday. He said that the Shivling is still in one and a half feet of water, which is expected to fall again by Monday afternoon.
However, he voiced vigilance for a few days as the approach road was not completely dry and still waterlogged in many places.
