LG Chair meets at UT to monitor vaccination progress

Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundarajan on Thursday chaired a meeting of the COVID Intensive Immunization Committee to monitor the progress of vaccination and prevent further spread of the virus.

In this meeting held at Raj Niwas, his advisor, Director General of Police, CRPF, AP Maheshwari, retired IAS officer c. Chandramouli, Chief Secretary Ashwini Kumar, Director General of Police Ranveer Singh Krishnia, secretary and heads of government and private hospitals were present. .

Since taking over as lieutenant governor, Ms. Soundarajan played an active role in promoting COVID-19 vaccination.

According to data available with the health department, 10,132 health workers, 1,864 front-line workers and 945 general public received vaccinations on Thursday.

Meanwhile, 17 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the union territory on Thursday.

Of the total number of cases, 6 were from Puducherry and Karaikal regions and the remaining 5 were from Mahe.

Active cases now come down to 166, including 96 houses under segregation.

Altogether 669 deaths, a total of 39,794 cases and 38,959 persons were treated and discharged.

Cuddalore district on Thursday reported seven new cases of COVID-19, out of which the district numbered 25,205.

While 25,857 persons have been discharged, the number of active cases in the district is 39.

In Villupuram district, one person tested positive, taking the total number of positive cases to 15,275.

No positive cases came to light in Kallakurichi district on Thursday.
