Lazio has been fined € 150,000, two team doctors have been banned for 12 months, and club president Claudio Lotito has been banned for seven months for violating the Kovid-19 protocol.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) referred the case to a federal court last month, and the court later announced his sentence on Friday.
Lazio confirmed this in a statement They will appeal the ruling.
What are the allegations on Lazio?
The FIGC said last month that Lazio had acted on “violations of federal regulations and lack of adherence to health protocols in force”.
The alleged violations included two occasions when the club failed to enforce a 10-day separation period and allowed an odd player to participate in a Serie A match.
Other violations include failing to promptly report positive Kovid-19 cases to local authorities and allowing three players to participate in training after receiving positive tests.
What caused the investigation?
The FIGC launched an investigation in November after several positive tests of the Kovid-19 before Champions League matches, but still participated in Serie A matches.
Although the tests used by UEFA differ from those used for Serie A, Lazio was charged with failing to report positive cases to the appropriate authorities.
As part of the investigation, Lazio’s training ground was inspected and swab test results were seized from the club’s lab.
There were reports that Lazio could face a reduction in points under the federal court sentence, but he escaped that punishment.
