Kerala Assembly Election | Kerala final list of Congress on 14 March

The Congress will contest assembly elections in Kerala in 91 constituencies. It will announce the list of candidates on Sunday.

KPCC President Mullappally Ramachandran said in New Delhi that the AICC had finalized the names of 81 candidates. The list had the imprint of Congress National President Sonia Gandhi.

The party did not yet know the names of those contesting the 10 seats. He denied indecision which led to the delay.

No MP from the state will contest the election. Mr. Ramachandran did not say whether former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy or Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala would compete from the high-profile Nemom constituency in Thiruvananthapuram.

He said that the strong candidate would be on the CPI (M) and BJP name. No person will contest two seats.

Seat sharing with colleagues

The UDF has completed seat sharing with its allies. The IUML will contest the Kerala Congress’s PJ Joseph faction in 10, RSP in five, RSP in five, NCP in two, NMP including Pala and CMP in Nmmara one.

The UKF would support the RMP if KK Rema competed against Vadakara. The Congress led the leader of the Forward Bloc. Devarajan is requested to oppose Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Dharmanad.

In Kerala, splattery on the assembly seats is very less for the Congress. It believed in the picture of unity presented by the KPCC leadership in New Delhi.

Long-standing tension between party factions in local Congress units threatened to defecate in Idukki, Kasaragod, Malappuram, Palakkad and Thrissur.

Protests break up

In Idukki, Congress workers threatened that he would leave the party if he denied former DCC President Roy. K. Paulos a seat. Similar protests were AV Gopinath in Palakkad, Soni Sebastian in Kannur, former Excise Minister in Thripunithura. Babu took place for Ernakulam leader KP Haridas in Ernakulam and Varkala Kahar in Thiruvananthapuram districts.

Some activists protested the “candidature” of KPCC officer Mathew Kuzhaldan in Chilakudi. Congress mentor Vijayan Thomas chose the day to join the BJP.

Congress leaders tried to create a ruckus over seat sharing in the party. He said that as soon as the election campaign is over, there will be more opportunities to reconcile with the dissidents. Mr. Chennithala and Mr. Chandy will discuss the settlement.
