Karnataka by-election: Congress names two candidates;  JD (S) One

On Thursday, Congress announced candidates for two assembly seats where by-elections will be held on April 17, while JD (S) announced for one seat.

The party high command also named the candidature of Ashok Manguli for Sindhi constituency but the Election Commission of India has not yet announced a by-election here. Mr. Ashok Mangoli, is the son of former MLA late MC Mangoli. JD (S) MC Manguli died in January.

Congress leaders of the state are expected to meet on Saturday to finalize the candidate for the by-election for Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency.

Putting to rest speculation that Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy will field a candidate for the by-election, the party announced on Thursday that the party will contest elections in Maski and Basavakalyan, while the decision to contest in the Belagavi by-election is one or two. Will go. day. He announced former Congressman Syed Yashab Ali Qadri as the party’s candidate in Basavakalyan. The candidate for Masky will be announced in a day or two.

Confusing signals came from the JD (S) in the last two months, with party supremo HD Deve Gowda stating that the party would not contest the election, while Mr Kumaraswamy said the party was yet to decide.
