The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) told the Bombay High Court on Friday that the Kanjurmarg plot was better for the metro car shed at Anjari Colony than the former.
The MMRDA, in its reply, filed before the bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice GS Kulkarni, stating – Approval of survey number 275 to 102 acres of Kanjur village – for construction of car shed for metro lines 3. Necessary. An interchange station for proposed line 14 with 4 and 6 and line 6.
Senior advocate Darius Khambata, representing MMRDA, told the court that the study done by experts showed that the Kanjurmarg plot was better suited for the metro shed than the plot in Array.
Mr. Khambata said, “An expert committee conducted a detailed study and discussions were held to finalize the new plot.”
The advocate said that the saw plot was too small and could only be used for one metro line, while the four car shed at Kanjurmarg could be accommodated.
The MMRDA was reacting to the petition filed by the central government, challenging the order by the Mumbai Suburban District Collector to allot a plot for the metro car shed at Kinjurmarg. The Center had said that the Kanjurmarg plot belonged to its salt department. Mr. Khambata said that the State Government has no reason to object to where the State Government brings the option of constructing a car shed.
The agency said in its response, “To develop the composite metro car shed, MMRDA has started work on survey land, soil investigation, landfilling, drainage, barricading, peripheral roads etc. A provision of has 27 crores has been made in carrying out such works on the land.
The hearing on the case will continue on 7 April.
