ITF Junior Tennis Tournament – The Hindu

The third edition of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior tournament was inaugurated here on Friday. Four artificial art courts with floodlights have been prepared for the week-long program to be held at Madura College.

Around 120 players from India and abroad will participate in the qualifying event and the main draw of the under-18 tournament. The qualifying round will be held this weekend and the main tournament will start from Monday. The organizers said that boys and girls will compete in singles and doubles.

The tournament organizers said that the quality of the courts matched international standards. The multi-layered rubberized coating was given to the asphalt surface and these synthetic courts were easier to maintain than other court surfaces, he said.

He said that one of the courts was sponsored by the managing director of Hi-Tech Arai BT Bangera through the Madurai Tennis Foundation.
