Mumbai City FC beat FC Goa 6-5 on Monday in a tie-breaker to enter their first Indian Super League final. They will meet the winners of the match between ATK Mohun Bagan and Northeast United. This match was the first sudden death of the tournament. Goa fielded reserve goalkeeper Naveen Kumar, while Mumbai raised some eyebrows when they decided to field Phurba Lachenpa in place of captain and Amarinder Singh, one of the best goalkeepers of the season.

But, as it turned out, Sikkimi survived a battle of Custodian nerves, helping the islanders to a place in the finals for the first time.

This competition was always going down the wire, to fight in the second leg with everyone. FC Goa climbed into Mumbai with the latter failing to register a single shot on target throughout the game.

The early half proved to be a lifeline, with neither side able to claim their dominance.

The shootout initially seemed to be headed by Mumbai after Goa missed the first two penalties.

But Mumbai then missed a pair while restoring parity.

In the end, when Glenn Martins missed his kick, Rawlins Borges headed home for the winning penalty and sent his team to the final.
