Ahead of the 2021 season of the Indian Premier League, England batsman Sam Billings praised his captain Rishabh Pant and said that the 23-year-old is probably the best young player he has ever seen. Billings, who was part of the Delhi franchise in IPL 2016 and IPL 2017, returned to the Delhi camp after achieving his base price of Rs 2 crore in the IPL auction in February. The English wicketkeeper-batsman, who has scored 3,527 runs, took 107 catches and stumped 17 in 187 T20I matches, said he is very excited to be a part of the Delhi Capital Unit for the 2021 edition.
A Delhi Capital release said, “It is great to be back in the IPL. There is a large group of players and the DC camp is very welcome. I am very excited to be here.”
Billings, who spent a lot of time with Pant during his previous stint with the franchise, recounted his first experience of seeing Pant’s bat.
“I remember the first time I saw Rishabh playing. We had a middle practice, and he was hitting bowlers everywhere like Chris Morris, Nathan Coulter-Nile and all the other bowlers and then I saw Rahul Dravid (then Delhi Franchise mentor) asked, “Who is this?” “Billings said,” I am very happy for him.
The 29-year-old is hoping to win IPL 2021 with Delhi Capital this year.
He said, “I love IPL a lot. It is one of the best competitions in the world and the buzz of IPL is something you can’t get anywhere else in the world. So I am just waiting to play in the tournament again.” My game has improved a lot since I last played for Delhi. Hopefully, we can kick in as a group and win the competition this year, “he said.

The Delhi Capitals on Tuesday announced Pant as the team’s captain for the tournament, which starts on 9 April.
