Former Australia spinner Brad Hogg said on Thursday that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) need not worry about Josh Hazlewood being left out of this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) as he also has lungi ngidi. Hazelwood decided to opt out of this year’s IPL citing bubble fatigue and he also said that he would like to spend more time with his family. “CSK had a great bowling line with Hazelwood, but one man does not make a team, Ngidi will fill that void with an Australian zero out. #CSK is looking strong enough this year. # IPL2021,” Tog said. Hazelwood was scheduled to leave for India today with Australia’s IPL-linked players, but the fast bowler has decided to miss this year’s IPL to spend some time with his family.

“It has been a long 10 months in bubbles and quarantine at different times, so I decided to take a break from cricket and spend some time at home and in Australia for the next two months. We’ve got a big winter ahead as well.” West Indies is going to undertake a long tour, with the Bangladesh T20 tour potentially ending, ”Cricket.com quoted Hazlewood as saying.

“Then potentially the T20 World Cup is the lead in the Ashes, so it is a big 12 months, as it is always with Australia, and I want to give myself the best chance to mentally and physically prepare for it. I made that decision. ” He said, “It sits very well with me.”

Hazelwood played just three games for CSK in the IPL 2020 and this year, he competed with Moeen Ali, Sam Curren, Lungi Ngidi and Dwayne Bravo for a spot in the playing XI.

IPL 2021 began on 9 April with Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) cutting the horns of the tournament openers. CSK will play its first match against Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 10 April.

Dhoni has won the IPL title to CSK three times (2010, 2011 and 2018). The franchise finished seventh last season and it was the first time it failed to qualify for the playoffs.
