IPL 2021: Chris Morris “with different roles” thinks he and Ben Stokes could become an interesting pair

South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris is clear about his role with the bat for the Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), which starts on 9 April. In the absence of England fast bowler Joffra Archer, it is clear that the all-rounder will play his full quota in four overs, with Morris aware that his primary role will be to finish the game off the bat in a cash-rich league.

Rajasthan Royals have another star all-rounder Ben Stokes and Morris feel that the pair would make a perfect pair for Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming IPL.

“I think we’ve got different roles as Stokes opens up the batting. He’s one of the best in the world if not the best. My role is to finish the game off the bat which I hope I can do more this year. I can. ” Morris said in a virtual press conference on Tuesday.

He added, “It is different with the ball that I think he bowled much less in the IPL last year than last year.

“So, you know, if we feed each other in our different roles in the team, you know, I think we can come up against a fairly interesting pair,” Morris said.

In February, Morris became the most expensive player in the IPL auction when he was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 16.25 crore.

Morris assumed that the price tag adds to the pressure but in the end said that you have to do well and contribute to the team’s win.

“When something like this has happened it’s natural to have a little bit of pressure. I said if there was no pressure then I’d be lying. Luckily, in the last few times I’ve come (to the tournament). Price on my head, hence the day.” In the end, you got to perform on the field, no matter what your price tag is, “Morris.”

He said, “You need to perform well and contribute to your team’s victory. You focus on playing your game and having fun with your teammates.”

Last month, Rajasthan Royals cricket director Kumar Sangakkara said that Morris’ ability to finish the game with the bat would be useful to him.

He said, “We are happy to bring Morris with us, as he comes to the team with both bat and ball. Especially with the ball, he has a really good number in the IPL and his ability to finish the game with the bat There is potential. Order is useful, ā€¯Sangakkara said.

Rajasthan Royals will play their first match of IPL 2021 against Punjab Kings on 12 April in Mumbai.
