internet down: Akamai suffers outage, takes half of global internet down – morningtidings

If you are facing or faced difficulties loading certain websites then note there has been a service disruption. Content delivery platform Akamai faced an outage for a limited time (starting arpund 8.55 pm) bringing down several key websites and apps in India along with Canada, Australia, UK, New Zealand and others. As Akamai is a global content delivery network, major websites faced an outage too. The company from its official handle tweeted, “Akamai is experiencing a service disruption. We are actively investigating the issue and will provide an update in 30 minutes.”
Thankfully, the outage did not last long and most websites and apps are slowly crawling back online. Most websites rely on cloud service providers and Content Delivery Networks (CDN) to run their content. An outage like this occurs when a particular service provider faces a technical glitch. With Akamai facing a disruption, all its clients will automatically face problems loading websites as it’s a popular global service provider.

Akamai has announced that they have fixed the issue and services should be back online. “We have implemented a fix for this issue, and based on current observations, the service is resuming normal operations. We will continue to monitor to ensure that the impact has been fully mitigated,” it tweeted.
Last month, American cloud service provider called Fastly reported a downtime which lead to a major service outage among popular platforms including Amazon, Reddit, Twitch, Financial Times, New York Times, Bloomberg News and others.
