Instagram has today rolled out a new feature for its users that will make it easier to view content in foreign languages.
The platform has added the functionality of automatic text translation in Stories — the ephemeral posts that last only 24 hours on a particular profile.
Do you need to enable automatic text translation in Instagram Stories?
No, the feature doesn’t require you to go through the app to enable some toggle or checkmark some box. The function will work and come into effect, as soon as it detects a foreign language in a post.
How to see translated text?
Once the Instagram app detects a foreign language on a Story post, it will show a “See Translation” option along with a white message icon on the top left of the screen. Tapping on this will open a section at the bottom of the screen with the original text as well as translated text.
How many languages does automatic text translation in Instagram Stories support?
As of now, the feature will offer support for over 90 languages including Hindi, Arabic, Japanese, Portuguese and more.

Is there support for audio translation too?
No. According to a report by The Verge, Instagram says audio translation isn’t available “at this time.”
