With less than a week to go for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, broadcasters have been concerned about the coronovirus situation at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Groundstaff at the stadium has tested positive for COVID-19, and there are concerns that they may have interacted with other groundstaffs. Replacing only those who have tested Kovid-positive may not be enough and the only way to resolve the situation is to bench all members of Groundstaff, broadcasters have told NDTV.
Wankhede Stadium is set to host 10 matches in IPL 2021.
The first match in Wankhede will be held on April 10, in which Delhi team will take on three-time champions Chennai Super Kings in last year’s final.
IPL 2021 clash with defending champions Mumbai Indians against Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai on 9 April.
