Indian Premier League: There should be vaccination for players, says Rajiv Shukla

The increasing number of coronovirus cases has forced the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to think about the vaccination of players before the Indian Premier League (IPL), with BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla saying that contact with the board Ministry of Health for vaccination of sportspersons. “To cope with this coronovirus growth, I think the only solution is to get vaccinated. Earlier on Saturday, ANI reported that the IPL Governing Council (GC) is thinking of shifting Mumbai matches to a few other places, with Hyderabad and Indore in addition to a daily spike in coronovirus cases in Maharashtra.

Things did not look too bright, with a positive test for coronavirus at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. With the cases rising in the state of Maharashtra, the IPL franchise has started feeling a little wary and are fingers crossed with the 14th edition of the league to begin on 9 April.

Wankhede is set to host 10 IPL games this season from 10–25 April. The first match at the Mumbai Stadium is to be played on April 10 between Delhi’s capital and Chennai Super Kings.
