After being ruled out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season due to injury, Shreyas Iyer announced on social media that his surgery was a success, and he was on course to recover. The Delhi Capital (DC) captain recently suffered a shoulder injury during the ODI series against England. Taking to Twitter, Iyer posted a post-surgery photo of him lying on a hospital bed with a thumb impression. He also captioned the photo, “The surgery was a success and with a lion-hearted determination, I will be back in some time. Thank you for your best wishes.”

Here is Iyer’s picture after surgery:

On 23 March against England, India suffered an injury during their first ODI. Iyer suffered an injury to his left shoulder while fielding. He was dropped from the series, and it was later announced that he was missing IPL 2021.

In his absence, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been appointed as the standby captain of DC.

Despite the presence of big stars, Iyer’s absence is still a major setback for Delhi. The Taliban cricketer led him to his first IPL final last year.

During the IPL 2020, DC finished the league stage in second place. But her fairy-tale was brought to the finals by Mumbai Indians (MI).

Promoted

The IPL 2021 is to begin from 9 April, in which defending champion MI will face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Meanwhile, DC will have their first match on April 10, when they take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
