Former India all-rounder Suresh Raina took to Twitter to congratulate Rishabh Pant on the latter’s appointment as the captain of the Delhi Capital for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Pant was made the captain of the Delhi-based franchise on Tuesday after Shreyas Iyer was ruled out for the entire season due to injury during the recently concluded One-Day International (ODI) series between India and England. Raina said he was sure that Pant would be a “talisman” leader and proudly donated the skipper’s cap.

Raina tweeted, “Heartfelt congratulations on Rishabhpant 17 being captain of the @DelhiCapitals for this season. I am sure he will be a talisman leader and proudly donate this new hat.”

After his appointment as the captain of Delhi Capital, Pant had said that he felt humble to lead the team and the wicketkeeper-batsman is eager to give his best in the upcoming IPL season.

Pant said, “Delhi is where I grew up and where my IPL journey started six years ago. To lead this team is one day a dream that I have bothered. And today, as That that dream comes true, I feel humble, ”said Pant.

“I am truly grateful, especially to the owners of our team, who considered me sufficiently competent for this role. With an amazing coaching staff, and accomplished senior people around me, I am in Delhi. Can’t wait for the capitals to give their best. ”Added Pant.

On 9 April, the defending champions Mumbai Indians competed in the IPL 2021 with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament opener.

Delhi Capital will play three-time IPL champion Chennai Super Kings in their first game of the franchise-based T20 tournament on 10 April.
