Indian Premier League 2021: Prithvi Shaw welcomed “Boss” Ricky Ponting to the Capitals of Delhi with “Chak De” Cry. The clock

Delhi Capital (DC) opener Prithvi Shaw welcomed head coach Ricky Ponting, who joined the team after completing his mandatory quarantine. “The owner is back,” Shaw said. DC posted a video on social media in which Shaw is seen speaking about the upcoming season of the IPL and reuniting with coach Ponting. “He is a very nice person. On the field he is like a boss, off the field he is like a friend. So, I am very happy that he is back.” Shaw compared Ponting’s speeches to the team’s Chak De film ‘Chak De! India by actor Shahrukh Khan. “I think when Ricky Sir speaks, that song (Chak De! India) should play in the background. Shahrukh Khan’s song,” Shaw said.

Shaw comes to the record breaking performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in the IPL. He scored 827 runs in only eight matches – the most in a season by any batsman of the tournament – with Mayank Agarwal on the way.

However, Shaw’s form deteriorated during the IPL 2020 and he was ruled out of the DC XI during the tournament. He also lost his place in the Indian Test team after being ruled out of the playing eleven during the tour of Australia after the IPL.

Ponting echoed Shaw’s poor performance in the previous IPL season and said the 21-year-old refused to bat in the nets if he did not score runs in matches.

“I’ve had some interesting conversations with him through last year’s IPL, just trying to break him up, trying to figure out what is the right way to coach him and how do I get the best out of him Going to do, “Ponting told cricket.com.au

“But he had an interesting theory on his batting last year – when he is not scoring runs, he will not bat, and when he is scoring runs, he wants to bat all the time.

“He had four or five games where he made under 10 and I was saying to him, ‘We have to go to the nets and work out (what’s wrong), and he said to me with a wink,’ No, I’m not batting today. I really can’t do that. “
