Before starting the Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign this year, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) decided to recognize the performance of their key players from the previous season. The franchise today posted two photos on its official Instagram handle featuring Faf du Plessis of South Africa and Sam Curran of England. The Post called them ‘Super Lions’. CSK captain MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina presented the trophy to du Plessis. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja included Dhoni to hand over the award to Karnan. The caption for the post stated, “A word of appreciation for our Super Lions of last season! Faf du Plessis (449 runs) and Sam Curren (13 wickets). # Whistlepodu #WayLove.

Du Plessis was explosive last year. The South African opener was the highest run-scorer for the Yellow Army. In keeping with his consistency throughout the season, du Plessi hit 42 fours and 14 maximum sixes in the 13 matches he played. The right-hander led the campaign with four half-centuries.

Sam Curren took 13 wickets in 14 matches for CSK in last year’s IPL. Not only with the ball, but Karran also helped the Chennai-based organization with its tough abilities. He scored 186 runs, which included 12 fours and 12 sixes.

The three-time IPL champion Chennai Super Kings will take on the Delhi Capitals in their first match on 10 April.
