Officials said the Indian Navy provided support to MV Nayan after requesting technical assistance to its vessel INS Talwar.
The Indian Navy assisted a stranded cargo ship with seven Indian crew members as it was flowing into the Gulf of Oman following the failure of its proliferation and power generation systems, officials said on Friday. The cargo ship was going from Oman to Iraq, he said.
Officials said the Indian Navy had assisted the stranded ship MV Nayan on Thursday. INS Talwar received a call after requesting technical assistance from the cargo ship.
The INS Talwar was deployed in the Gulf of Oman. He said that the cargo ship had been flowing into the sea since March 9, due to the failure of its origin, power generation and navigational system.
“Based on an initial aerial assessment of MV Nayan’s crisis, the Indian Navy ship with its VBSS (Visit Board, Search and Seizure) team along with a technical team sailed seven Indians to assist the boat, That he had seven Indians as his crew. The Indian Navy spokesman said.
The official said the Navy teams worked continuously on the MV Nayan for seven hours to operate their key equipment such as generators, steering pumps, seawater pumps, compressors and the main engine.
“The Naval team also assisted in the operation of navigation devices such as GPS and navigation lights ahead of the MV Nayan before proceeding to its next port,” he said.
