‘India can become a hardware manufacturing hub’

Microsoft President Brad Smith said there is an opportunity for India to become a hardware manufacturing space as the world’s technology majors have stepped up their supply chain from China in the last 18 months.

Urging India and the US to join the Paris Call for Trust and Security in cyberspace, saying that now 75 countries have boards to deal with the new cyber threats facing the world, they have introduced more professionals to deal with these threats. It also stressed the need to train.

“I think this is the one thing that creates potential new opportunities from a long-term perspective to make India, as well as others, more space for hardware manufacturing,” he said, adding that the potential would go to Mexico. Terming the recent speech of cyber companies as a wake-up call for tech companies as well as governments, Mr Smith said the world was more secure when the network ran in the cloud.
