‘India can become a hardware manufacturing hub’

Microsoft President Brad Smith said there is an opportunity for India to become a hardware manufacturing space as the world’s technology majors have stepped up their supply chain from China in the last 18 months.

Urging India and the US to join the Paris Call for Trust and Security in cyberspace, saying that now 75 countries have boards to deal with the new cyber threats facing the world, they have introduced more professionals to deal with these threats. It also stressed the need to train.

Terming the changing relationship between China and the US and some other countries as one of the most important geopolitical developments of this decade, the Microsoft official said that the change was definitely affecting the technology sector.

“We are looking at something different, not a decompiling. We are definitely seeing an impact in terms of the hardware supply chain, with many companies relocating (or) in some instances, perhaps, almost all, or all of their hardware manufacturing from China to other countries. This has been going on for the last 18 months, even though it has not been discussed that much by companies in public, ”Mr. Smith said in a session at the Raisina Dialogue late on Tuesday.

“I think this is the one thing that creates potential new opportunities from a long-term perspective to make India, as well as others, more space for hardware manufacturing,” he said, adding that the potential would go to Mexico. Was living , Vietnam, South Korea, and some Southeast Asian countries.

‘wake up call’

Terming the recent speech of cyber companies as a wake-up call for tech companies as well as governments, Mr Smith said the world was more secure when the network ran in the cloud. Many cyber security problems, he said, also emerged from a lack of compliance with IT administrators with best practices.

“We need to simplify this, but the other problem is that there is a shortage of cyber security professionals in the workplace. We need a global initiative to have a cyber initiative, to give place to all cyber training professionals to accelerate all types of training.
