Yuzvendra Chahal became India’s leading wicket-taker in the T20Is on Friday when he dismissed Jos Buttler during the first T20I against England in Ahmedabad. Chahal carried on Jasprit Bumrah’s 59-wicket innings and took his 60th wicket off Butler’s ball. Chahal now has 60 wickets at 24.75 in 46 T20Is and an economy rate of 8.34 per over. Bumrah’s 59 in the 20 T20Is is 20.25 and the economy rate is 6.66 runs per over.
Chahal, who played his 100th international match for India today, played his T20 match against Zimbabwe in 2016 in Harare. In ODI cricket, Chahal has taken 92 wickets in 54 matches.
Chahal’s career aside, there was little for India to celebrate in the opening T20 of the five-match series as England chased down a 125-run target by the hosts to take a 1-0 lead in the series .
India were asked to bat first by England captain Eoin Morgan, and their bowlers took three Indian wickets in the powerplay and then stopped opponents at 124 for 7.
Shreyas Iyer scored the highest 67 runs for India and Rishabh Pant scored 21 runs, but he was the only batsman who struggled.

In response, Jos Buttler and Jason Roy chipped in with the Indian bowling attack and conceded 72 runs in Chahal’s first eight overs.
There was no respite even after the wicket as David Malan and Johnny Bairstow wrapped up the game within 16 overs and helped England take the series lead.
