IND vs ENG: Washington Sundar replies to Wasim Jaffer’s ‘3 Idiots’ memes

Washington Sundar was one of the heroes of India’s emphatic win over England in the fourth and final Test which helped the hosts win the four-match series 3–1. Sundar, who made a name for himself with his superb batting in Australia, once again played a brilliant 96 with the bat, helping India to play a decisive first innings in Ahmedabad. However, the young left-handed batsman was left with the equivalent of four centuries when the hosts lost their last three wickets on the same score. At the time, former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer pulled out a meme from a scene in the film ‘3 Idiots’, mocking the trio of Axar Patel, Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Siraj – before being dismissed by Sundar Three players reached his maiden hundred.

Late Monday, Washington Sundar responded to Jafar’s tweet.

It all started when Sundar took India out of an asymmetrical innings of 62 runs in his first Test innings against Australia in Brisbane. India won the series in Australia to win the Gaba Test.

However, Washington Sundar’s father expressed disappointment at his son who had missed the hundred.

Sundar’s 96 was crucial for India as the hosts won by an innings and 25 runs to book their place in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand in June.

India were in trouble after England scored 146 for six in the first innings. But a fiery Rishabh Pant and Sundar shared a 113-run partnership to put India in the driver’s seat.

India were bowled out for 365 with Sundar stranded for 96 as India took a 160-run lead. Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel built a web around the English batsmen in the second innings, taking five wickets each.
