India captain Virat Kohli posed with the team’s one-day jersey ahead of the three-match series against England in Pune on Tuesday. Kohli will lead the team after India won the series 3–1 in the Test and 3–2 in the five-match T20I series concluded on Saturday. All three ODIs of the series will be played in Pune, with the last two matches to be held on 26 and 28 March. Ahead of the series, Kohli said in the pre-match conference on Monday that Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan will be open to India in ODIs.

Kohli promoted himself to the openers’ slot in the fifth T20I in Ahmedabad and questioned whether Kohli would be seen regularly opening for India in white-ball cricket.
On Monday, Kohli said that batting is not guaranteed in all matches.
Kohli said, “As far as the opening combination is concerned, Shikhar (Dhawan) and Rohit (Sharma) will definitely make a debut. They have been amazing for us over the years.”
“It is not a guarantee that it will be considered in the future,” Kohli said.

The ODI series could also mean Karnataka fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, who played his first innings in India’s team.
Apart from Krishna, Krunal Pandya, who got a call-up to the ODI squad, is likely to include Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant in the starting XI for India.
