The failure of Pacer Varun Chakraborty’s fitness tests has knocked him out, while T Natarajan is running against time to prepare for the battle, leading him to India’s five-match T20I series against England starting on Friday The initial part is made suspicious. Chakraborty has repeatedly failed to pass the fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, while Yorker specialist Natarajan still has yet to join the team due to an apparent “shoulder bone”. “Varun Chakraborty was chosen because he recovered from his shoulder injury that ruled him out of the Australia series. He did his rehab at NCA and started throwing normally.
“However, he has failed to clear the YoYo test mark scheduled for the 2 km race at least twice,” a senior BCCI source said on condition of anonymity.
Now the question is being asked why the committee headed by Chetan Sharma selected a player who has not played a single competitive game for his state Tamil Nadu after the month of October.
“We can understand that he was undergoing his rehab during Mushtaq Ali (T20 Championship). But then again, he did not play a single Vijay Hazare Trophy game. You match his fitness based on the games he played five months ago. How can I assess? I think Varun Chakraborty is a lesson for the selectors, “the source said.
“If a player is not generally maintaining the standards set by this Indian team, his bowling alone cannot be the criteria for selection.”
It is learned that Rahul Chahar will be included in the team as he is already in the bio-bubble since the start of the Test series.

In Natarajan’s case, the NCA medical staff is trying to get him fit or at least in the later part of the series.
Rahul Tewatia is training with the Indian team in Ahmedabad as he awaits his second fitness test results.
